SERVICE RECOVERY by Lois Bonefas
The art of making things right when, in the eyes of the customer, something has gone wrong.
Service Recovery always includes an apology for not meeting our customer’s expectation. Listen carefully if the patient or visitor wants to voice a concern. Put yourself in their shoes and empathize with their situation. Apologize and take action - do what you can to solve the problem or take it to someone who can. Show you care. Refer to your Purple Service Recovery Kit for help. During the first 6 months of 2010, 108 apology cards and coupons from the Service Recovery Kits were utilized by staff to show their concern. The 4 top reasons the cards and/or coupons given were: delays/cancellations; scheduling problems; service/care issues; and as a way of thanking family members for their assistance.
Don’t miss an opportunity for service recovery. It shows you care.
