Congratulations to all who received recognition! I thought it was also a good time to share with you some positive feedback we have recently received in the Administrative office:
- The daughter of a patient on 3 Medical stopped in personally to tell us what a “top notch” staff we have. She mentioned in particular Emily on day shift and Cortney on night shift and also recognized environmental service staff Judith and JoAnn. She stated that all staff go “way above and beyond.”
- A patient of the Allen Pain Clinic sent a letter that complimented Dr. Hawkins for the “very professional, yet personal, caring mannerism.” She also complimented nurse Angelic for her caring attitude. In part she stated, “I have recommended others to this service and will continued to do so. These days it can be difficult to find caring, professional staff, but they get an A+.”
- A patient sent comments to me about the nursing care in our Emergency Department. In part she wrote, “I can’t say enough about how good the nursing care was at Allen.”
All this feedback goes to show that patients and their family members really do notice the difference in care. You can bet that they will tell others about their experience, and that’s how Allen can remain the area’s leader in providing health care services.

Allen Associates Lead State in Flu Vaccination
KWWL produced a story this week on flu vaccination rates for Iowa hospital employees. Allen employees top the list, which was published statewide earlier this week. Click here to read the script or view the story.

Important Information for Nursing Units
Most of the computers that are on the nursing units have a generic logon in use. IT recently had submissions to the KUDOS Corner that were made anonymously under this generic log in that were not appropriate. We no longer allow these without knowing who they are from. In order to log onto KUDOS Corner without having to change how the computer is logged in follow these steps:
!!!! WARNING !!!!
Not following these instructions exactly could compromise the user's personal network account and the user would be held responsible.
1) Click START

We know each of you are busy with all your daily to-do lists. We hope that taking some time and a little money to fill up a box for a child in a third-world country will rejuvinate you.
Allen associates have always given when called upon. Please stop by the Foundation office and pick up a box for a much deserving boy or girl. Get together with your department or work with a friend or a neighbor. Below is a note from Erin Iverson, who enlisted the help of her nieces to fill a box and learn a great lesson on giving.

Maysen and Hayden Bruess had a blast filling up their shoebox for the Rotary Club Shoebox drive! They thought it was so fun to go shopping for a little girl who was just their age and learned about the importance of giving along the way.
We have lots of shoeboxes left that are waiting to be sent to a child in need, and the deadline of September 9th is coming up quick.
Please stop by the Foundation office to pick yours up today!
|
We want to hear your story or your department's story on filling your box(s). Contact Kay Willard at willarke@ihs.org or 3516 to get a picture taken or email her your story. You or your department will be featured in an upcoming Friday Edition.

Patient Satisfaction Scores
Congratulations to these Allen departments who hit their stretch goal for patient satisfaction scores: Each department is studying their patient satisfaction surveys and identifying ways to give patients and their families the very best care.

Help Us Meet Our Bonus Budget Goal!
When we make good purchasing decisions, it helps us reach our goals in the Share Our Success incentive plan. Below is a tip to help us keep costs down and put us on track to help reach our incentive plan.
Put your favorite items in a shopping list. It makes items easy to find and always the lowest cost item! Click the button (see pink arrow pointing to button below) to add the item to your “order form”. (Similar to the OM Direct order form) Next time you shop all you need to do is click on the shopping list drop down and all your favorites will be right there! No need to look for the right item or worry about if it is a contract special.

We are already seeing great savings! If you would like us to help you build a shopping list or just have questions, please contact Carol Buckles or Amber Crooks in Purchasing. Thanks for your help in keeping supply costs down and taking steps to meeting our Share Our Success Goals!

It’s Not Thanksgiving Yet, Right?
Wild turkeys parade across parking lot P7a, across from Allen Women’s Health on Vold. Associate Konnie Rindels was quick enough with her camera to capture their portrait.
They probably won’t be there come November.
