Thanksgiving Blessing
Allen Foundation board member and Greater Cedar Valley Chamber of Commerce and Alliance membership director Bette Wubbena posted this Thanksgiving message on Facebook. She also gave us permission to share it with you. We all have days when we wonder if we really do make a difference. Take it from Bette, who knows the answer firsthand. What we do every day matters more than we can imagine. Here’s her message: |
| This week is a time for everyone to reflect on our blessings. Every day I am constantly reminded of mine. Yesterday Chuck and I were approached by an individual when we were grocery shopping. She called me by name and stated that she was a student nurse at Allen when I had my massive heart attack, and she was blessed that she was allowed to observe me in ICU. She said I am truly a miracle as the prognosis was not at all good, and I was truly blessed to have my family and friends that were there for me to help me through the very rough time! So today I say thanks to family, friends, paramedics, police and Allen medical staff for giving me my life back ten years ago! Love to all! – Bette Wubbena |
Pie Day
Stop by Wednesday, November 23, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm and again from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm for a slice of holiday pie. With Allen discourt, the pie only costs $2.24. These scrumptious pie slices will be topped with a mound of whipped cream and served ala mode.

Holiday Gift Certificate Distribution Schedule
Once again we will be distributing $20 Hy-Vee certificates for purchasing meat to all Associates to help you celebrate the holidays. When you pick up your certificates, we ask that you help us give back to our community with either a donation of two canned goods for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank or $2 cash for the Salvation Army to provide holiday food boxes for area families. You can also donate your Allen gift certificate if you like. It will feed a family in need. Look for details next week.
