Allen Associate Holiday Meal
Allen Associate holiday meal will be served on Wednesday, December 14 (Allen Hospital, UMP and Rosewood). Lunch will be served from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm and from 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm. Third shift from Wednesday at 11:00 pm to Thursday at 1:00 AM.

All-Star and Ambassador Luncheon
A group of Allen associates were honored at an All-Star luncheon on November 23. They include 20 CARE Counts All-Stars and 8 CARE Counts Ambassadors and were selected from a pool of 70 nominations.

Wee Care Tree
Allen Associates love our littlest patients. We are excited to introduce the WEE CARE TREE again this holiday season!
A tree will be located outside of the Allen Gift Shop. Stop by and purchase a plush animal to donate to our tree. You will receivea 25% discount by purchasing your stuffed animal from the Allen Gift Shop! Donations will be accepted through Dec 22nd. After that date, donations will be delivered to the children who are in the hospital during Christmas week.
Let’s share the holiday spirit and put smiles on all the children’s faces this year!

Movie Saturday
January 14 at Crossroads Theater only! Doors open at 7:45 a.m. and movies start at 8:30 am. Cost is $2.50 for regular shows and $5.50 for 3D movies. Bring correct change and ID badge for admission. No more than six tickets per associate.

Interested in Weight Watchers???
I had an employee call me recently about weight watchers not continuing. We did not have enough people enrolled for the end of the year session; howeve,r if there are 20 employees or more interested, we can restart Weight Watchers next year. Thank You, South Waterloo Church of the Brethren
South Waterloo Church of the Brethren hosted a 'Teddy Bear Tea' and collected stuffed animals, gift cards and free-will donations for the Allen Child Protection Center on Saturday. In all, over 60 toys and gift cards and over $100 was raised for the center. The toys will provide much comfort to the children who visit the center. We thank the ladies of SWCOB for their support! |

| Holiday Blessings - Gift Certificate
• Holiday gift certificates will be available Sunday, December 11 – Wednesday, December 14. See schedule below.
• Certificates are good only at the Logan Avenue Hy-Vee in Waterloo and the College Square Hy-Vee in Cedar Falls.
• Certificates expire December 31, 2011.
When you pick up your certificates, we ask that you help us give back to our community with either a donation of two canned goods for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank or $2 cash for the Salvation Army to provide holiday food boxes for area families.
Please check expiration dates on all donated food – we don’t want to give people outdated food.
You can also donate your Allen gift certificate if you like. It will feed a family in need. Contact Volunteer Services at 3960 or email Teri Ettelson at ettelstt@ihs.org.
Pick up your gift certificate in front of Volunteer Services on the first floor of Allen Hospital, next to Elevator A. Here are the four remaining distribution dates:

Help a Child to Read
New and gently used children's books and monetary donations are needed to help create libraries for under-priviledged children in the Cedar Valley. Drop off any books or donations at the Breenbrier Building, 1554 Oak Drive, from Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. For more information, contact Julie Ehlers at 433-2026 or ehlersj@waterloo.k12.ia.us.
Volunteers are also needed for one-hour shifts to help children read. Thanks for your support. |
