Green Team Garden Exciting News!
Allen Auxiliary, Allen Hospital staff and Allen friends, you are invited to attend a special event! Monday, March 26, at 12:30, the sculpture called “Hope” will be placed in the Butterfly Garden, the wildflower garden on the south side of the hospital just outside Entrance #1.
|
Deb Ewoldt of The Blacksmith Boutique and Garden Studio, Dysart, Iowa created this beautiful 7’ artwork, full of colorful butterflies. We want to thank the Allen Auxiliary who has sponsored all the gardens planted by the Green Team, including this sculpture. Be sure to stop by to watch the sculpture being delivered and installed. We will have a formal dedication ceremony during April.
Volunteers Needed for the Gardens: The four perennial gardens planted last summer at Allen are basically self-sustaining and have done well. However, like any garden, they need a little “grooming”. We also need help for “Earth Week”, April 23, 25 and 27, sitting at a display at lunch in Allen cafeteria. The display will include different ways Allen Hospital is leaving a green footprint. If anyone is interested in helping with either the gardens or the display for an hour or so, please contact Teri Ettelson, EttelsTT@ihs.org or Trish Pedersen, trishebp@cfu.net. |

Did You Know…
April is Donate Life Month. Allen Hospital will host a flag-raising ceremony the morning of April 2 to help raise awareness about organ, tissue and eye donation. We hope you will attend to show your support.
The Iowa Donor Network wants YOU to know…
|
- Many people, in some cases 100 or more, can benefit from one person’s decision to be an organ and tissue donor.
- Over 28,000 transplants were performed nationally in 2005, yet nearly 112,000 Americans still wait for a life-saving organ transplant.
- More than 750,000 Americans receive tissue transplants of bone, heart valves, tendons, ligaments, and skin annually.
- With recent advances in medical technology, more people qualify to become donors – even those over 70 years of age or who have a history of cancer.

A Special Note from HR
All benefit-eligible employees have been receiving, at home, mail from Ceridian.
By law each benefit eligible employees are to be notified that, if needed, they will have the option to continue healthcare coverage under COBRA. The mail that you may have received is that notification. This in no way should be construed that you are losing coverage or your employment is in jeopardy.
Once again, this is a federally-mandated notification that our company provides COBRA coverage, if and when you may need it. If you have any other questions please contact HR. Steve Sesterhenn, VP Human Resources
