Name That.....CAFÉ!
Exciting things are about to happen at the Allen Cafe. We will be giving the café a fresh new look and also expanding our current menu offerings.
Along with the new look, we would also like to kick off a campaign to rename the café. We are inviting all Allen Associates to take part in this renaming activity. We will collect ideas and then present those ideas to the Administrative Team for final selection and approval.

Associate Recognition Banquet Information
For over fifty years, Allen Health System has been honoring its associates for milestones in employment. Annually, associates have been recognized as they reach their employment anniversaries of five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty-five, thirty, thirty-five, forty, forty-five and FIFTY years. An annual associate recognition banquet was held and honorees most recently have received cash compensation for their longevity as Allen associates.
In 2012, we have modified the associate recognition program to include a series of four lunches that will be held throughout the year. The change means a more informal, yet intimate opportunity to honor associates for their years of service to Allen. It also means that associates will receive their longevity pay within months of their anniversary dates rather than waiting until an annual banquet.
The first quarterly associate recognition lunch was held in the South dining room last Friday. We had 67 honorees invited, 33 attended, 4 were caught up at work and weren't able to attend as planned. Tom Tibbitts, CEO, thanked all the honorees for their years of service and distributed longevity checks along with his personal handshake.
The next associate recognition lunch will be Monday, June 4 and will honor those associates with milestone anniversaries between January 1 and March 31. Invitations to honorees will be mailed to their homes next week.
For those with milestone anniversaries later in the year, April 1 through June 30 anniversaries will be honored on September 6 and July 1 through September 30 anniversaries will be honored on December 6. |

The event was a huge success. The Allen Auxiliary signed up 133 new members! Cookie Crave drawing winners were Melissa Houle and Phyllis Stevenson. Gift Shop drawing winner was Julie Karsjens. If you have NOT picked up your prize, please do so in the Volunteer Services office. |

ISU Extension invites you to join us at the Jesse Cosby Garden
WHEN: Thursday, May 17, 6:00pm
WHERE: 1112 Mobile Street, Waterloo
WHO: Families interested in planting a vegetable garden plot at the community garden.
HOW: We will have seeds and plants available, or bring your own. Weather permitting gardens can be planted on the 17. We can discuss a regular weekly time to meet at the garden and garden together. Each family or individual interested will be assigned a garden plot to grow fruits and vegetables. Resources will be provided to you at no cost. The produce you grow in your plot is yours to keep!
WHY: Gardening together is healthy and fun!
