In the Tank...
Jeff Martin wears a not-too-subtle valentine to his fellow associates who made sure he was one of our six dunkees at the Allen Heart Walk Carnival May 17. The dunk tank alone raised $11,500 to support the Heart Walk, which is Saturday, May 19. |
| The Heart Walk assembles at 8:00am in George Wyth Park, and the walkers set off on a 3-mile loop at 9:00am. Families, kids, dogs (on leashes, please) and of course all of us are welcome to attend. We will update you with more photos soon. |

Statement from JP Morgan Chase
We have had a number of questions from associates regarding investment losses at JP Morgan Chase. The concern is that the losses will affect IHS 401k plans. Here is a statement from JP Morgan Chase. We have put the paragraphs in bold that answer these questions. Thanks for sharing your concern with us.
This week, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. announced in its quarterly 10Q filing that the firm’s Chief Investment Office is expected to incur significant losses in its credit portfolio, partially offset by securities gains. As a result, the firm gave guidance net income for the Corporate Sector may incur an estimated loss of approximately $800 million. To put this loss in context, the company earned $5.3 billion in the first quarter of 2012 and $19 billion for the full year 2011.
This loss will not impact clients or customers and it does not detract us from what we are here for—to serve our clients.
Retirement plan assets are held in trust for the exclusive benefit of participants and beneficiaries. It is important to note that no clients were affected by the loss and specifically, this situation is not related to investments managed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. is very strong—with leading franchises across all of our major businesses. But while the organization maintains a fortress balance sheet to withstand setbacks like this, it doesn’t excuse these mistakes. Rest assured that we will learn from this experience and take whatever corrective action is needed.

Members of the Allen EBP Council were able to attend the National EBP Conference in Iowa City on May 4.

Name That Café! Exciting things are about to happen at the Allen Café. We will be giving the café a fresh new look and also expanding our current menu offerings. Along with the new look, we would also like to kick off a campaign to rename the café. We are inviting all Allen Associates to take part in this renaming activity. We will collect ideas and then present those ideas to the Administrative Team for final selection and approval. Please send your ideas to Kelley Leonard at leonarka@ihs.org by May 25. |
