Allen Health System 2012 Associate Fitness Reimbursement Program Attention Team Allen Blue!
The fitness center list recently has been updated. If your fitness center is not on the list, please send the name of the fitness center, contact person, address, phone, email address and if they offer any specials for Allen associates to AllenWellness@ihs.org or fax it to 319-235-3729 and it will be added.
When visiting your fitness center, make sure you show them your Blue Zones badge and let them know you are an Allen employee and that you will be participating in the Fitness Reimbursement Program. Your fitness centers were sent a letter with directions on how to submit your information to Allen so you can be reimbursed. If they did not receive a letter, a copy can be sent to you. Here’s how it works:
|
- Fitness centers were instructed to submit the data between the 1st and 15th of each month; this means when each month ends, they have 15 days to send us your documentation from the previous month. They may email it to AllenWellness@ihs.org or fax it to 319-235-3729
- Employee Health will enter the information in the fitness spreadsheet and forward it to Finance
- You will receive your payment on the 2nd check of the month as long as there is documentation from your fitness center that you visited at least 8 times or more the previous month as an Allen Blue team member.
- Please note: reimbursement is a taxable benefit for Allen employees.
|
Non-Blue Zone members, see discounts for Allen associates. To receive the $20 back in your paycheck for 8 visits, contact Paula Delegardelle or Erin Iverson to sign up to become a member.

A great milestone was announced at the inaugural Wine @ 5 event for the Allen Blue Crew on Thursday at Barrett Pavilion – Allen Hospital is now an official Blue Zones Worksite! We met all the Blue Zones requirements as an institution, and of our nearly 850 Allen Blue Zones members, over 450 have completed actions. We were also recognized as the leader in the city for completion of the separate Well Being Assessment, at over 240 completed. City representatives Felicia Cass and Sherman Wise presented our team members with the certificate while we enjoyed goodies from Hy-Vee, including some new wine samples, pumpkin hummus, fresh pita chips, cheese, fruits and veggies.
Look for our certificate in the bulletin board outside the Allen Cafe.

Guess Who?
Cory Ford from the American Heart Association surprised a certain hospital CEO this week with Bobble Head Tom, in recognition of his great leadership (and good sportsmanship in the dunk tank) of Allen’s 2012 Heart Walk. We’re pretty sure you’ve seen him around.
