Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) recruit and retain healthcare professionals to rural and underserved areas. Each center teaches students about healthcare careers, offers clinical training sites to healthcare profession students and supports health care providers with continuing education programs.

Four regional AHECs exist in Iowa with the help of a federal grant. Each site is locally managed and supported. Northeast Iowa's AHEC serves 25 counties and is managed and supported by Allen Hospital.

If you are interested in, or actively pursuing a healthcare career, or are a healthcare professional in rural Iowa, take a moment to learn more about AHEC and the opportunities available to you.

Brienna Decker, M. Ed., Interim Executive Director & Clinical Outreach Coordinator & Jennifer Lakin, B.S. R.T. (R)(V) Recruitment Coordinator
