PURPOSE To increase the knowledge of nurses, respiratory therapists, and EMS providers of the current management of selected cardiovascular disorders.
AUDIENCE RNs, EMS, paramedics, first responders, respiratory therapists, and other interested healthcare professionals.
OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this program, the participant should be able to: 1. Review treatment of acute pulmonary edema/acute decompensated heart failure: a. CPAP / BiPAP b. High dose nitroglycerin c. IV ACEI d. And later, Lasix if needed 2. Discuss wellness management options for patients with CHF, AMI, obesity and cholesterol concerns. 3. Discuss current methods facilities are using to address LOS and re-admissions (CHF, Pneumonia and AMI). 4. Describe vascular disease and the impact on cardiac patients.
