Allen Rehab Workshop to Help Reduce Falling Risks

Friday, 01 March 2013

Allen Hospital’s Inpatient Rehab Unit and Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging will hold “A Matter of Balance,” a workshop designed to increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falling.

Workshop sessions will take place on Mondays and Thursdays, from 9 – 11 a.m., March 19 – April 11, in Allen Hospital's Inpatient Rehab Community Room.

During the eight, sessions attendees will be taught: exercises to increase strength and balance; to set realistic goals for increasing activity; to improve their environment to reduce fall risk factors; and how to view falls and the fear of falling as controllable.

The cost for the workshop is $15 and the registration deadline is March 14. To register, call Janet Buls at 319-272-2244 or 800-779-8707.

Workshop attendees should use Entrance 1 or 2 and take Elevator D to the 5th floor of Allen Hospital.
