Iowa Health System, Parent Organization of Allen Hospital, Honored as 2010 Most Wired Wednesday, 28 July 2010 Iowa Health System, parent organization
of Allen Hospital, has been recognized as
one of the nation’s “Most
Improved,”according to the results of the 2010 Most Wired Survey released in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks
magazine. “Iowa Health
System understands the importance of health information technology and how its
continued adoption will help us deliver our vision of delivering the best
outcome for every patient every time,” said Iowa Health System President and
CEO Bill Leaver. “Information Technology will also play a leading role in achieving
healthcare reform’s objectives of lower costs while improving care.” Hospitals & Health Networks, the
journal of the American Hospital Association, conducts the Most Wired Survey
annually. It is based on organizations’ levels of achievement in four focus
areas: business and administrative management; clinical quality and safety; care continuum and infrastructure. Iowa Health System
is among 25 organizations throughout the nation that have improved the most
from 2009 to 2010. “We are making
significant advances in health information technology while being strategic
about how it can best serve our patients, physicians and other clinicians,”
said Iowa Health System Chief Information Officer Joy Grosser. “All of our
project upgrades, whether it’s electronic health records, digital x-ray
transmission or networks for exchanging data and services, are designed to
support clinical excellence and improve patient care. The 2010 survey included 555 organizations and was
conducted in cooperation with McKesson Corp. and the College of Healthcare
Information Management Executives. The Most Wired
awards began in 1999, making this the 12th annual survey.
